Unified Sports Team Hits the Lanes for a Day of Fun and Inclusion
One of the most unforgettable events of the year took place recently when our entire Unified Sports team—featuring students from all Spring Lake buildings, grades K–8—came together for a high-energy day of bowling at Northway Lanes.
Unified Sports, which brings together students with and without intellectual and physical disabilities on the same team, has been a source of pride at Spring Lake Public Schools since its creation last year. Events like this one highlight what makes the program so special: connection, inclusion, and a whole lot of joy.
From the moment students arrived at the bowling alley, the excitement was contagious. Cheers echoed across the lanes as friends encouraged one another, shared high-fives, and celebrated every strike, spare, and even the occasional gutter ball. It was a day filled with positive energy and genuine friendship.
This memorable outing was made possible thanks to the incredible efforts of our educators and support staff, who consistently go above and beyond to create meaningful experiences for all students. Their commitment to fostering belonging and building community was on full display throughout the event.
Events like this aren’t just fun—they’re powerful reminders of the impact inclusive education can have on a school community. When students feel seen, valued, and supported, they thrive.
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, and to our students for reminding us what teamwork and friendship really look like.
Go Lakers!
