Spring Lake Students Experience “Court of Dreams” with GVSU Basketball Team

In a heartwarming event celebrating Inclusion Month, students from Mr. Rotman’s and Mrs. Shurlow’s classes at Spring Lake Public Schools had the unique opportunity to participate in the “Court of Dreams” program. This special collaboration with the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men’s basketball team brought excitement and learning to the forefront.

The students were thrilled to interact with the towering athletes, touching basketballs, passing them to the players, and even assisting with layups. The event was not just about basketball; it was a hands-on lesson in teamwork and inclusion. The GVSU players demonstrated joy and encouragement, making each student feel valued and capable.

As the students engaged in these activities, they learned the importance of working together and supporting one another. The smiles and laughter shared on the court were a testament to the positive impact of this initiative.

“Seeing our students connect with the GVSU players was truly awesome,” said Mr. Rotman. “It was a perfect way to highlight inclusion and teamwork.”

This memorable day on the court fostered a sense of community, making it a standout event for Spring Lake Public Schools.
