Second Grade to the Farmers Market
On a picturesque sunny day, second graders from Holmes Elementary School took an educational journey to the Spring Lake farmers market. The trip, aimed at teaching students about farming, healthy habits, and smart purchasing, was a resounding success.
The children, accompanied by their teachers and plenty of parent chaperones, walked to the market, enjoying the fresh air and warm sunshine. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by local farmers who shared insights into the world of their jobs. The students learned about the growth process of various fruits and vegetables, the importance of a healthy diet, and how to make informed purchasing decisions.
Highlights of the visit included tasting some food, and each child receiving a small allowance to buy their favorite produce. This hands-on experience allowed the students to practice their math skills and understand the value of money.
The day concluded with the children returning to school, their bags filled with healthy goodies and their minds enriched with new knowledge. The trip was a delightful blend of fun and learning, leaving the young students eager to share their experiences with their families.
