Lakers Celebrate Inclusion at Special Olympics Unified Sports Assembly

Lakers Celebrate Inclusion at Special Olympics Unified Sports Assembly

The energy was electric in the gym last week as students from Spring Lake Intermediate School and Spring Lake Middle School packed the bleachers for the Special Olympics Unified Sports Assembly—a celebration of teamwork, inclusion, and fun through athletics.

Unified Sports brings students of all abilities together on the same team, promoting friendships, understanding, and the true spirit of sportsmanship. And if there’s one thing our Lakers do best, it’s supporting one another with enthusiasm!

From the moment the athletes took the floor, the cheers were deafening. Every basket was met with thunderous applause, high-fives, and even a few celebratory dance moves from the players themselves. The joy was contagious, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of encouragement and unity.

At Spring Lake, we don’t just cheer for our teams—we cheer for each other. This assembly was a powerful reminder of the strength of our school spirit and the values that make Laker Land so special.

A huge thank you to Special Olympics Michigan for bringing this incredible program to our schools and to all the students, staff, and families who made this event such a success. It was a day filled with joy, inclusion, and endless Laker pride!

Go Lakers!
