Laker Spirit Shines During WOOD TV8 Football Frenzy Tailgate
Before the sun even came up, the Laker Athletic Center was glowing—not just from the bright lights shining over the turf, but from the energy, generosity, and pride of the Spring Lake community. On Friday morning, WOOD TV8’s Football Frenzy Tailgate rolled into town, and our Lakers showed up in full force to represent what Spring Lake Public Schools is all about.
Students filled the athletic center, waving signs, cheering for their school, and bringing more than just excitement—they brought compassion. Arms full of canned goods, they delivered hundreds of items to benefit The People Center, a local organization dedicated to supporting families in need. What began as a morning of school spirit quickly became a reminder of how deeply our students care for their neighbors.
Throughout the live broadcast, viewers across West Michigan caught a glimpse of what makes Spring Lake Public Schools special. The cameras captured not only our enthusiasm but our character:
-
World travelers, through programs that connect our students globally and foster understanding beyond our borders.
-
Community collaborators, working together to make a difference through service projects and partnerships.
-
Supporters of the whole student, uniting academics, athletics, and the arts under one proud Laker banner.
The morning served as both a celebration and an affirmation—proof that when our students, staff, and community come together, something remarkable happens.
“WOOD TV8 gave us the spotlight,” said JT Hogan, athletic director, “but our students made it shine.”
We are grateful to WOOD TV8 for highlighting our schools and to everyone who braved the early morning to represent Spring Lake so well. The laughter, cheers, and giving spirit on display were the perfect reflection of what it means to be a Laker: proud, caring, and united in purpose.
Thank you, Spring Lake, for always showing up—with heart. Go Lakers!
