Jeffers Elementary Students Champion Recycling with New Paper Gator Bin

At Jeffers Elementary School, sustainability and community involvement are at the forefront of this mission. We are thrilled to announce that Jeffers now has a Paper Gator Recycling bin, thanks to the determination and initiative of our exceptional elementary student council!

The journey to securing the Paper Gator bin began last year with the student council’s impressive effort to address the need for better recycling options at the school. The young leaders took it upon themselves to write a compelling letter to Superintendent Furton and Director of Operations Boeve, requesting a meeting to discuss their vision. During this meeting, the administration presented the students with several challenges that needed to be met in order to bring the Paper Gator to Jeffers.

Undeterred, the student council rose to the occasion, tackling each challenge with diligence and creativity. Their perseverance paid off, and we are now proud to have the Paper Gator Recycling bin on our campus! This achievement not only highlights the dedication of our students but also emphasizes the importance of environmental responsibility within our community.

The Paper Gator bin is conveniently located on the southwest side of the school, behind the Kindergarten playground. Community members are encouraged to drop off their recyclable paper, books, magazines, newspapers, and junk mail between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Please note that big cardboard, plastic, and garbage are not accepted in the bin.

We invite everyone to join us in supporting this fantastic initiative by filling the Paper Gator and contributing to a greener future. Together, we can make a difference, one piece of paper at a time. Thank you to our remarkable student council for their leadership and to the entire Jeffers Elementary community for your ongoing support!

Let's fill that Paper Gator and show our commitment to sustainability! ♻️
