Building Bridges Through Books: A Heartwarming Reading Connection
Books have a special way of bringing people together, and that was especially true when Mr. Talmadge’s 5th-grade students from Spring Lake Intermediate School visited Little Lakers Learning Center for a very special story time. Their audience? None other than Mrs. Talmadge’s preschool students!
This heartwarming visit was more than just reading—it was about building connections, fostering a love of literacy, and sharing the joy of storytelling. As the older students read aloud, the preschoolers listened with wide eyes, laughed at silly moments, and eagerly turned pages to see what happened next.
Beyond the books, this experience created a meaningful bond between the two age groups. The 5th graders had the chance to practice leadership, patience, and confidence in their reading skills, while the preschoolers enjoyed the excitement of learning from their "big kid" mentors.
At Spring Lake Public Schools, we believe in the power of learning together, and this visit was a perfect example of how a simple act—reading a book—can create lasting connections.
We’re proud of our young readers for inspiring the next generation and proving that when it comes to learning, we’re all in this together!
