Area Superintendents Visit Spring Lake’s New Laker Athletic Center
Spring Lake Public Schools recently welcomed superintendents from across the region for a firsthand look inside the new Laker Athletic Center—a facility designed to serve not only our student-athletes but also our staff and community.
Superintendent Furton hosted the visit, offering guests the chance to see how the space is already being used for training, wellness, and connection. While some visitors came simply to observe the center in action, others arrived with plans of their own—gathering ideas for future projects in their districts.
The Laker Athletic Center stands as a model of what can be achieved through careful planning and community collaboration. Every detail, from its design to its programming, reflects a shared commitment to student growth and community well-being. Beyond athletics, the space supports curriculum through physical education classes and the arts, mostly through regular use of the marching band.
For Spring Lake, the facility represents more than a building—it’s a testament to the district’s forward-thinking approach and the strong community support that made it possible. The tour was an opportunity to share that story with educational leaders who recognize the value of investing in spaces that inspire learning and connection in many forms.
As guests departed, one theme was clear: innovation in education isn’t limited to classrooms. It’s found in the environments that bring people together, encourage health, and foster pride in shared success.
Spring Lake Public Schools is proud to continue building with purpose—always with students, staff, and community at the center.
