Applications for the The Paul Wolbrink Scholarship and the Spring Lake Social Studies Prize are now available in the Guidance Office. These awards go specifically to Spring Lake seniors. The Wolbrink is based on English and writing skills, and SL SSP is for students who have excelled in our Social Studies curriculum. The deadline is March 1, 2013.
The Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) has at least 30 scholarships of $1,000 each for students whose parent(s) are employed by a business who is a member of the MRA. Go to: www.retailers.com and look under the “Education and Events” tab for the link to the application. You can also call: 800-366-3699 to have an application sent to you. Applications must be requested by March 15, 2013 and submitted by April 1, 2013.
Muskegon Community College has a variety of Performance-Based Scholarships in Music, Art, Theater, Dance, English, Life Science, Math/Physical Science, Instrumental Music, Physical Education/Health/Recreation, Industrial Manufacturing Technology, and Business. You must include a transcript with the application. The deadline is April 1, 2013.
Grand Valley State University is accepting applications for the Mary Jane Dockery Science Scholarship worth $1,500. An essay, two recommendations, and a strong interest in science are selection criteria. Applications are in the Scholarship file. The deadline is March 8, 2013.

The Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation is accepting applications for a $2,000 scholarship. Selection criteria include scholarship, leadership, financial need, and a dedication to the civil rights principles of Rosa L. Parks. A transcript and 3 letters of recommendation are also required. The Community Foundation for Muskegon County is offering its annual Henrik Olving Award for the Gifted. This goes specifically to a SpringLake HS student! Candidates must exhibit an outstanding gift or talent in any field, regardless of financial need or academic achievement. A completed application and two letters of recommendation are also required. The American Legion Auxiliary is offering the Medical Career Scholarship ($500) for descendants of Veterans. Grades, financial need, and 3 letters of recommendation are part of the selection criteria. A copy of parental or grand-parental discharge papers must accompany the application. The deadline is March 15, 2013.
Were you a “Safety” in elementary school? AAA Michigan is offering its AAA School Safety Patrol Scholarship worth $1,000. Selection criteria include a personal letter of introduction, 2 letters of recommendation, an ACT score of 21 or higher, and a 3.0 or higher GPA. You must also have proof (safety patrol certificate or letter from elem. Principal) of participation in the program. Get your completed application and documentation to Mr. Coughenour by April 12, 2013.
