It is the goal of Spring Lake Public Schools to provide parents, students, and community members the most up to date information in as many forms as possible.  This page outlines the various ways we provide information in the event of an alert, advisory, or important notice.

School Closings

In the event of a situation calling for school closure (ie bad weather, power outage, or other service issue), Spring Lake Schools will take the following actions as soon as possible:

  • Radio and television stations are notified (by 6:15 A.M. in the event of a weather closure) TV: WZZM-13, WWMT-3, WXMI-17, and WOOD-8  Radio: WGHN, WGRD, WKLQ, WLAV, WLHT, WMUS, WODJ, WOOD, WSNX, and WHTC
  • Principals will make every effort to notify parents via their building's parent email list.
  • SchoolMessenger call and email to parents with details and any special instructions.

Please do not call your child's school.  Parents should also instruct their children regarding what procedure to follow if they are dismissed early and arrive home before the regular dismissal time.

 

Spring Lake Public Schools uses the SchoolMessenger system for closing and emergency notifications.  The system utilizes parent data we have on record in our student information system.  Please make sure to notify your student's office of any changes to your contact information (phone numbers, email address, etc.)

In the event of an unscheduled school closing.  Spring Lake Public Schools will execute a SchoolMessenger call and email to all parents.
